About us

We are looking for a new Contract and Commissioning Officer to join our experienced and supportive all age Contract and Commissioning Team in Adult Social Care. This is a full-time permanent post, and you will work in a hybrid way, with a minimum of 2 days in the office at Times Square, Warrington and site visits to care homes. You will be part of a team of three Contracts and Commissioning Officers reporting to the Older People’s Contracts and Commissioning Team Manager.

The role

We invest over £130m each year in care and support services for adults across Warrington. The successful post holder will lead on the residential and nursing contract portfolio of Older People commissioned services. The post holder will undertake a range of activities as part of the commissioning cycle, from population needs assessments, service development, market shaping, procurement and contract management activities such as compliance visits, engagement with stakeholders and monitoring contract requirements. You will also be required to lead on or contribute to other development projects and opportunities to improve outcomes for individuals and quality of services. You will need to have strong project management skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

What's needed?

As an individual you will need the right values, excellent communication skills and an ability to break down complex issues and processes into manageable and deliverable activity. You will need to be confident enough to set clear expectations for a range of colleagues and partners, whilst maintaining a supportive approach. Our future success will be dependent on working collaboratively and co-producing new responses to local challenges. We expect all our work to be informed by the voices of those that use our services. There is a requirement to travel to care providers and partners as part of the role.

You will need to be able to establish and grow positive relationships with partners inside and outside the Council including our care home providers; this means you will be involved in managing market pressures and capacity, working routinely with providers and partner agencies. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of Local Government and preferably within a social care setting, plus knowledge of contract and commissioning.
