An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated, experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join Warrington Borough Council’s OOH service. We are seeking an experienced AMHP who is passionate about supporting individuals in mental health crisis and ensuring safe and lawful practice under the Mental Health Act 1983.
The role
Approved Mental Health Professional for Warrington Borough Councils Out of Hours service (variable contract). The salary is pro rata, the hourly rate is £22.94 per hour.
As an AMHP you will play a critical role in assessing individuals experiencing mental health crisis and coordinating appropriate interventions. The purpose of an OOH AMHP is to provide a statutory duty to mental health referrals coming through outside of standard office hours.

What's needed?
• Qualified and registered Approved Mental Health Professional.
• Current registration with Social Work England.
• The candidate must have over three years’ experience of undertaking Mental Health Act assessments and knowledge of associated legislation.
• Ability to work independently and make complex decisions in high pressure situations.
• Experience and knowledge of Mosaic computer system.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
▪ To undertake the role of Approved Mental Health Professional and to carry out statutory duties on behalf of the local authority.
▪ Ensure a least restrictive practice which promotes strength based and person-centred practice, which promotes physical and mental wellbeing.
▪ Respond to Mental Health referrals which cannot be left safely until the following working day.
▪ To be able to work autonomously and be responsible for your decision making and to be accountable for your work.
▪ Provide urgent, high-quality responses for vulnerable adults, experiencing mental health relapse and distress.
▪ Link in with the daytime AMHP lead, to ensure a seamless handover of care.
▪ Bring a distinctive social perspective to mental health practice by recognising the role of social factors as antecedents, determinants and perpetuating factors in the experience of mental distress.
▪ To support staff to manage risk and create a culture of positive risk taking.
▪ To participate in staff/team meetings and activities as and when required.
▪ To keep accurate records on WBC client’s digital system.
▪ To carry out duties with due regard to confidentiality and data protection.
▪ To comply with health and safety requirements, statutory obligation of the Council and the Directorate.
▪ To comply with professional regulators and Code of Conduct.
▪ To undertake any other duties as may be allocated from time to time, which are deemed to be commensurate with your post (conduct and complete file audits and other duties as required).
▪ Make and maintain links joint working opportunities with other partners agencies, including NHS services, Housing, Police and both private and voluntary sector.
